On Wednesday 8th November, I made the journey to the N.E.C in Birmingham for the Farm Business Innovation Show 2017 – an annual event covering all aspects of rural business, including invaluable lectures, debates and demos. I had been invited to speak on the Social Media debates panel with 3 other social experts of the rural industries.

The discussion covered the highs and lows of using social media for your rural business and how best to get around the ever changing algorithms, terms and demands. One topic which proved popular was the hashtag usage across rural industries. While there are many regular networking hours and hashtags to use for the equestrian world, the same does not apply for the farming sector.

So, I teamed up with Alison of Social Jungle and Edwina of SocialB to bring you the best of the farming hashtags.













#agrichatuk – used for the Thursday night chat run by AgChatUK discussion


#farm24 – used predominantly to link with the Farmer’s Guardian 24 hours in farming campaign held once a year






#averagefarmerawards – a tongue in cheek hashtag used at ‘banterous’ farming




#FSOOTY – stands for ‘Farm Spray Operator Of The Year’ – an annual competition for the best Farm Sprayer run by Syngenta.
