Sales… Sales… Sales…

We all know that sales are the backbone of a business. Without them, you can’t expect to continue as a trading business and to earn a living. While the prospect of selling out of a product may scare you, it can actually be very good for your business. Here’s why.

Selling out of a product lets your customers know that your product is worthy. It means others have invested and trusted you and your business to provide a quality item they desire. While it may not be ideal to not have a product to sell, you can always ensure more of the same are made, and customers will always wait and pre-order for something they really want.

Time for a press release?

Now, how do we go about selling out a product? There are a number of ways. The first I would advise is a press release. Obviously the press release needs to be of interest to the audience or general public. How can your product enhance someones life? Why do they NEED to make that investment? Who is your target audience? Once you have those areas thought out, the press release process can begin.

A press release gets your products in the eyes of those that want them ensuring your investment offers the best value for money. The release is sent via email to editors and journalists in the industry. They’ll often have an upcoming feature where they may be seeking new products, innovative ideas or genius pieces of design. The press release offers them all the information they require for features, news items and stories.

Case study

Back in the Spring, I wrote a press release for a brand new company whom had just launched their first few products. The press release was so well received they sold out of products and had to kindly ask their manufacturer to rather quickly make some more! The result? Customers knew that the product must have been well received, conversations were started on social media and people were placing pre-orders for when they were back in stock. The client even went on to have a 3 part feature in a leading National equestrian magazine.

Is a one off press release good enough?

Generally, no. Press releases work well with regularity. I advise producing one press release per month for an initial 3 month period. Continual brand awareness works wonders, and you really do get back what you put in. Obviously every piece and every release is different so I would suggest speaking to a PR and working on a bespoke plan to suit YOUR needs, not theirs. At the end of the day, it’s your business, your budget and your reputation.

I’d be delighted to speak to you regarding the PR for your equine, canine or country business. Do get in touch for your bespoke package, and let’s get you coverage, brand awareness and sales.
