Live your most glamorous countryside life with sumptuous bespoke millinery, fur clothing and accessories from Caroline Nicholls
One of the things I truly love about what I do is that I get to meet so many people who have built up a successful business based on their personal passion. Whether that is a passion for horses, country sports, jewellery or interiors – these people know and love their sector and boy does it ever shine through when you talk to them about their work. I know how much work goes into running a business and hearing from these people about what drives them to new heights is really special.
I was lucky enough to meet yet another such business person at the Duke of Beaufort’s Hunt Point to Point, held at my fabulous local racecourse, at the beginning of the month. It’s a grand day out with brilliant racing, a fun dog show and scrummy local food, and if you’re lucky enough to win some money on a flutter then there are those all-important trade stands for some sneaky shopping. Caroline Nicholls was one of those trade stands this year and I may have treated myself to something from her collection as a reward for a busy and successful start to the year!
Caroline is a trained milliner with a passion for making the most stunning bespoke hats and fascinators that are just perfect for events where you need glamour with a countryside twist. If you’ve caught any of the Cheltenham Festival coverage this week, or been lucky enough to be there in person, then you’ll probably have seen some of her fabulous designs perched atop the heads of lucky ladies. It was actually while wearing one of her own designs there a few years ago that Caroline was first asked if she would work on commissions for other people, and her business has really flourished since then.
Caroline’s hats, trilbies and fascinators are just perfect for a day at the races, whether that’s a full-on National Hunt day out or a visit to a local point-to-point, and they are hugely popular for country weddings and hunt balls too. Guinea fowl, duck, pheasant and peacock feathers are used along with contrasting bands, pearls and an array of other decorations to create beautiful and unique pieces. Caroline also has the most incredible range of responsibly-sourced fur clothing and accessories, from gilets and capes to fur collars and cuffs. Her range is simply sublime, with every item adding a bucket load of country glamour to any outfit, and there are plenty of faux fur options if real fur isn’t your cup of tea.
If you’re planning an outfit for a day out that just needs a little something special, I wholeheartedly recommend you take a look at Caroline’s website! Keep an eye on her social media too, so that you can see if she’s due at a point-to-point or event near you…
